When to use
You are asking a friend the question out loud; you care about passing more than maximizing; you want pass / C / B / A chips instead of staring at a blank target box.
When not to

Assumptions
Same formula as the final grade page. Pass preset default 60% (toggle 70). Letter chips use the site scale.
How it works
needed = (target − current × (1 − w)) / w pass chip: target = pass_cutoff project mode: overall = current×(1−w) + final×w

- Read the minimum exam score and whether it is reachable.
Examples

Panic studying for a 95 when you only need a 32 is optional.

Thin finals make a small bump expensive.
Gotchas
- “Pass” is not universal — nursing / major courses may require 75+ in the class.
- Ask whether the final replaces the lowest exam before using simple mode.
- Do not paste a Canvas total that already baked in a blank final as 0.
- Round-off: schools may round 89.5 up; we show two decimals and let you decide.
