These terms govern your use of FinalNeedBase (the site, calculators, copy, and related pages). By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Planning math only — not your official gradebook. Confirm weights, cutoffs, curves, and drops on your syllabus and with your instructor.

What this site is

FinalNeedBase provides free browser calculators that estimate course grades, scores needed on remaining exams, weighted category averages, and percent ↔ letter conversions for planning. Outputs are general information only. They are not official grades, academic advice, admissions advice, legal advice, or a substitute for your syllabus, instructor, registrar, or LMS gradebook.

Using this site does not create a professional, advisory, fiduciary, or educational-institution relationship between you and FinalNeedBase or its operators.

No affiliation with schools or LMS vendors

FinalNeedBase is an independent site. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, employed by, or partners of Instructure (Canvas), Blackboard, Google, Microsoft, Apple, or any school, district, or university. Brand names appear because students search for those tools — not because this is official platform software. Trademark owners retain their rights; mention does not imply permission or endorsement.

Estimates can be wrong

Defaults and formulas are described in methodology. Your real course grade may differ because of curves, dropped scores, extra credit, “final replaces lowest exam” rules, ungraded-as-zero toggles, participation chunks not in your typed weights, and other policies we do not fully model.

You are responsible for confirming weights, cutoffs, and posted grades with your syllabus and instructor before you study, drop a class, or make any academic decision. If the gradebook disagrees with this site, trust the gradebook.

Your decisions are yours

Any study plan, course selection, or academic decision you make after using FinalNeedBase is yours alone. We do not recommend specific classes, majors, or schools. We do not promise that a target letter is reachable or that a needed score will match what your instructor posts later.

No warranties

The site is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. We may change, pause, or remove tools at any time.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FinalNeedBase and its operators are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site — including but not limited to:

  • Wrong study plans or missed grade targets
  • Course drops, withdrawals, or academic standing decisions
  • Disputes with instructors, schools, or LMS vendors
  • Admissions, scholarship, or GPA outcomes
  • Data loss on your device, downtime, or third-party ad/analytics behavior
  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages

If a page has a bug, tell us via contact. We may fix defects when we can; that does not mean we underwrite your grades or accept liability for decisions you already made.

Where liability cannot be fully excluded, our total liability for claims relating to the site is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us specifically to use FinalNeedBase in the twelve months before the claim (currently $0 for free use) or (b) USD $50, to the extent such a limit is enforceable.

Acceptable use

  • Use the calculators for personal academic planning
  • Do not scrape, overload, or automate the site in a way that harms availability or other users
  • Do not misrepresent FinalNeedBase as an official school or LMS tool
  • Do not claim we are partners of Canvas, Blackboard, Google, or any school
  • Do not use the site to harass, spam, phish, or break applicable law
  • Do not reverse-engineer or republish substantial site content as your own commercial product without permission

Privacy

Calculator math is designed to run in your browser. How we handle analytics, ads, and email you send us is described in privacy. That policy is part of how the site works alongside these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms as the site evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated terms. If you disagree, stop using the site.
