Quarter grade calculator
Built for Q1 / Q2 (+ exam) style report cards. Defaults resemble 40/40/20; change the weights if your school uses 45/45/10 or three quarters. Leave the exam blank to solve for what you need.

When to use — and when not to
When to use
Report card season; “what do I need on the quarter exam?”; comparing school weight policies.
When not to
College category weights — course or weighted calculator. GPA across courses — GPA pages.
Assumptions
Two term slots + exam weight. Blank exam → solve. Preset weights are editable.
How it works
semester% = (q1·w1 + q2·w2 + exam·wExam) / (w1+w2+wExam)
- Enter each quarter percent.
- Set weights (try 40/40/20).
- Leave exam blank to solve, or fill to project.
Examples
Q1 88, Q2 84, weights 40/40/20, target 85, exam blank
needed on exam ≈ 81%
same with exam 90
semester ≈ 86.4%
Gotchas
- Some districts average quarters then apply the exam — confirm the handbook.
- Three-quarter years need a third term — approximate by merging or adjust weights carefully.
- Not the same as semester GPA.
