Final grade calculator (weighted)
When the final is one category among several, do not squash everything into a single “current” unless you already did the work. Keep the category rows, mark the final remaining, and solve against a target.

When to use — and when not to
When to use
Syllabus lists HW / exams / final separately; you refuse to trust one portal current; you want weighted + needed together.
When not to
You only have one current % and a final weight — plain final grade calculator is enough.
Assumptions
Category weights include a final row. Remaining final has no score yet.
How it works
solve needed on remaining weight after summing completed contributions
- Enter finished categories with scores.
- Add Final with weight, mark remaining.
- Set target course %.
Examples
HW 90 @ 20%, Quizzes 85 @ 20%, Midterm 78 @ 30%, Final rem 30%, target 85
needed on final from contribution math
same, target 80
needed drops — often into a comfortable band
Gotchas
- Do not also paste a portal “current” that already includes a zero final.
- If the final lives inside “exams,” model that bucket, not a fake separate 30%.
- Weights must match the live syllabus.
